Dear reader,
I didn’t start The Quilt Atelier because I grew up dreaming of quilts and fabric. I started it because of a question that kept nagging at me.
I spent years working in exports, watching products move from factories to the rest of the world. And somewhere in that process, I noticed something that bothered me: everything was about scale. Bigger orders, faster turnaround, lower cost. Craftsmanship wasn’t really part of the conversation anymore.
So I went looking for something different. That search took me to Jaipur, where I came across quilted bags for the first time. I was drawn to them instantly — the texture, the handwork, the character. But before jumping in, I did what I always do. I researched, obsessively.
What I found surprised me. There wasn’t a single premium Indian brand making quilted bags. Everyone was manufacturing in bulk, screen printing on one side, and selling without any real identity behind the product. That gap is where The Quilt Atelier was born.
I chose every block myself. I handled the printing personally, making sure it was done on both sides — never a shortcut. Even the zipper pulls carry our name, in metallic finishing.
I started small, under a thousand pieces across all my designs. Finding someone willing to make that happen took two months and fifty phone calls; most manufacturers wanted orders of two thousand pieces or more. Someone finally agreed, though it cost double. That’s the price of staying true to premium, uncompromised quality.
It’s not just fabric and thread. It’s intention, patience, and a refusal to cut corners. And that’s how The Quilt Atelier will keep growing — more designs, more categories, always handmade, never mass.
